This morning we are featuring Edward, a beautiful adult Lionhead mix rabbit, Who is a white and gray fluff ball.  Edward is a good rabbit for first time rabbit owners BUT he needs regular grooming done. He is the sweetest boy who enjoys being held. One of the volunteers even carriers him and “sling” so her arms don’t get tired, that’s how much he seems to enjoy being cuddled! Joanie is a one year old year old black and white pig! Joanie is not a smooth hair piggie, she has fluffy hair and is referred to as a teddy bear pig. Joanie came to the humane society with about 18 family members and most have gone home. This morning we are featuring Elizabeth, a beautiful adult guinea pig who is white with a black saddle and mask. There’s just something about Elizabeth! She is the sweetest girl and you can see it straight off the bat. Her disposition is so evident that out of the 20 odd other guinea pigs she came in with, the humane society staff immediately fell in love with her and one of them is even fostering her while she awaits her forever home. Due to her previous experience in a high volume guinea pig home, we find Elizabeth is territorial and defensive with other pigs so she should be the only piggie in the home. But that’s okay! Gorgeous Penny is a 2 year old, Tri-color Treeing Walker hound. She is a sweet and cuddly girl with a nose and mouth typical of a hound. Because she occasionally likes to yodel, we do recommend a single family home. She would be happy to be an only dog or one of a pair or pack. In foster she lived with a canine companion and they were inseparable. She might also do well with cats. She would make a great family pet with older children. Meet Spice a 3 year old guinea pig! Her friends say while in her habitat she is neat for a pig and will be often found in her pigglo. She is on the shyer side but will let you pick her up and hold her. She probably will be best for a family with older kids.  People don’t always realize that guinea pigs can live to 8 years old so at 3 years old Spice has lots to give. Some people think cats like to keep to themselves rather than give you attention. Well, they should meet Vera! She loves people, is playful, and likes to gently tap your head when she’s up high on her shelf! That’s her way of helping people while they clean her room! Vera is a 3-year-old calico who came to the Connecticut Humane Society after she bounced around a few homes that couldn’t keep her. Along the way, she met another cat and kids and did fine with all of them. This kitty doesn’t seem to like dogs though, so her new home should be dog-free. Melonie is a gorgeous orange tabby and an example of the hardest to place cats that come into shelters. She is older middle age (9) and is not immediately social with new people. To be clear, she is not afraid of humans and can hang out calmly in a busy environment, she just does not tolerate being petted by people she doesn’t yet know. When she is comfortable with a person she will allow pets and belly rubs (and she has a VERY inviting fluffy white tummy), but even with her loved ones she is more of a companion than a cuddler. Her previous family described her as being like a little dog, following you from room to room and then finding a place to snooze near by. She’s a cat for someone who enjoys a little spirit moving around their home but doesn’t need to pet and hold all the time. Today we have Jackie, a jumping bean of a puppy that is looking to find a home!

This 10 month old plot hound mix loves to play with other friendly dogs and cuddle with her humans. She will walk up to almost anyone with a wiggle and then roll over for belly rubs.

At just 10 months old she has a lot of life to live and love to give! Of course, at 10 months she is also the equivalent of a teenager. She’s full of energy and needs a LOT of exercise. Because she has been bounced around a lot as a youngster she is still working on basic house manners so will require a patient and experienced home that will provide outlets for her energy, consistency, and positive crate training. Due to her bounciness, she needs a home with children over 10.
