The National Council on Problem Gambling estimates that about five million Americans struggle with compulsive gambling. However, only around 8 percent of these individuals will ever seek help for their problem. Connecticut made online gambling and sports betting legal in 2021 and the Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling has reported a huge spike in calls ever since.
