As you may know, November is a adopt a senior pet month. We are closing out our last week of the month featuring one of our senior dogs who is ready to cuddle up on your couch. Oscar is an eight-year-old, 55 lb mixed breed. His former shelter listed him as a boxer but we think he may have more sharpei and shepherd in him. He is a calm dog who still enjoys his playtime. He lived in a foster home, where he was much adored. They have set him up with his favorite toys and blankets to go home with. Some dogs can get a bit set in their ways as they get older, and sometimes that makes them less suitable for children they did not grow up with. For this reason, we are recommending Oscar for a home with children 14 and up. Ideally he would go home with a family with guardian breed experience. The guardian breeds tend to be slower to bond with new people, but are deeply loyal companions once they do.
